Rights and Warriors

Hi All,

As we approach travel week, I wanted to provide an update of our CS progress.

7TH GRADE
We have our third literature circle for Warriors Don't Cry tomorrow (pages 69-106). This is a compelling memoir by Melba Patillo Beals about her experience as one of the nine high schoolers integrating Little Rock's Central High School in 1957.

We also continue to dig into the structure and function of the government, and our rights in The United States Constitution and The Bill of Rights.

Having moved past The Constitution and The Bill of Rights, we have been looking at the addition of states and territories in the 19th century, focusing particularly on the social and economic issues related to free and slave states. We will continue this path of study, looking at the struggle of African Americans to gain rights during the course of our nation's history.
